About Kate

An Ohio native, Kate received her B.F.A. in Theater from Ohio University. After graduating, she moved to Chicago where she studied improv at iO Chicago (formerly ImprovOlympic) and became an ensemble member of the Curious Theater Branch, a playwriting company dedicated to creating and supporting new works. Since moving to the Northeast, Kate co-founded and operated the improv comedy theater Wage House in Pawtucket, RI. She helped run the Providence Improv Festival as well as create and produce numerous other comedy shows.

She has taught improv to hundreds of students and facilitated many corporate workshops. Today she continues to teach improv comedy classes for adults and kids. Her specialties are uncovering what connects us, sparking creative ideas, and developing skills to improve communication and effectively guide you in work interactions and on the stage. She specializes in helping professionals— especially in the mental health field— handle charged situations, using role-playing to build skills in active listening and self-awareness.

She also works as a teaching artist in hospital settings. She shares the therapeutic potential of improv with children grappling with both physical and mental health issues, leaving an indelible impact on their lives.

She's a member of Rhode Island's longest-running improv troupe, Improv Jones, and collaborates with the folks at Dugway Theatre to make theatrical new work. Kate strives to bring ingenuity and heart, to her work and can’t wait to share the joy of improv with you!
